Prayer-Activists Highlight Livermore's Ongoing Deception
Regarding Environmental Contamination
Catholic Worker Farmers from Calaveras County, CA will come to Livermore to picket and hold their monthly vigil on October 8th, the anniversary of three US nuclear detonations: Tamalpais (10/8/1958), Pipkin (10/8/1969), Cathay (10/8/1971). These full-scale bomb detonations were conducted in Nevada, as dictated by scientists and engineers at Livermore, CA and Los Alamos, NM. Hoping to encourage a peaceful end to all pro-nuclear weapons work at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), the vigil this week is an attempt to discourage the use of local brain-power for violent purposes.
LLNL is the main location of nuclear weapons research and development in California. The Catholic Worker Farmers hold this special peaceful demonstration as a call to conscience for LLNL workers to promote justice instead of environmental destruction. Catholic Workers point out that the National Ignition Facility (NIF) is an "apex of violence towards our shared environment and a paragon of spiritual terrorism, which is central to LLNL's mission," according to Marcus Collonge of Calaveras County.
Catholic Workers who hold these prayer-actions at LLNL are explicitly nuclear abolitionist, in that they desire ALL countries and all peoples to disarm their hearts from fear-based addiction to mega-violent tactics of "keeping the peace".
California's Catholic Worker Farm is regionally located between LLNL and the NNSS (Nevada's nuclear testing grounds), so the farmers organize monthly vigils for environmental justice and love for enemies in Livermore, CA, a place which actively threatens the environment of Nevada and other earthly locations. The international Catholic Worker movement has consistently stood in opposition to nuclearism since that -ism was formulated in 1945 and 1946. LLNL is apparently the greatest purveyor of "nuclear weapons terrorism in California", according to Catholic Workers in Calaveras County, CA.
The International Day for Total Nuclear Disarmament was September 26th 2015
